Day 14 - And Then...

September 28, 2013

And then, nothing happened

After my watch ended at 6am, I went back to my bunk and slept until 2pm. I guess I needed to readjust to sailing life.

The seas were calm, the wind died down and we just sailed towards Cabo Frio. I started reading a trashy novel. I finished the trashy novel.

We had chicken curry for dinner, played some cards, decided on watches -- I got the 8-10 and 2-4 -- and went to bed.

The watches were calm under a murky-dark sky with occasional lighting storm brewing in the distance and no ships in sight. Good.

When we left NY, John and I had expectations and goals we wanted to achieve during this vacation. I'd prepared about 250 flash cards so I could study all the major and minor piano chord variations on my watches. The goal was to return home knowing all these chords cold. So far, the flashcards were untouched. I'd also planned to read a ton of info on Fiona and Eric’s expeditions with the idea of writing a book about it. Yeah, right. Not once sentence yet.

It is amazing what being in constant motion does to you. All we do with our time is to read and fall asleep. Last night, I wondered why all beds don't rock. It would solve a lot of insomnia problems.  One might say, we would sleep like babies. Or sailors.

Ah, the cruising life!
